4 STEPS BEFORE PAINTING
Rough Spots
Sand them off using fine grift sandpaper.

Holes & Cracks
Patch them with filler and sand the patched area down.

Popped Nails
Fill up the dimples caused by popped nails with filter.

Loose Paint
Scrape it away with a putty knife and sand down the edges.

GETTING READY TO PAINT
Step 1.
Empty the room as much as possible.

Step 2.
Use masking tape to cover window, skirtings, base plate of light fixtures, electrical sockets and switches.

Step 3.
Cover immovable furniture and the floor with used cardboard or newspaper.

Step 4.
Check the walls for the nails holes, flaking paints, cracks, runs or ridges in the old paint.


Always Paint In This Order
1. CeilingsĀ – Always paint the ceiling first toavoid paint dripping on walls that you’ve just painted. Paint across the short width to get a more even finish.
2. Walls – Do the borders first and work downwards. At a window or door, paint along the top band and repeat the process at the bottom.
3. Trim Work On Windows & Doors – Mask the areas (such as hinge, knob, latch) that do not require painting with masking tape. Paint the inner frame first and work outwards. For doors, paint in the following order: moulder surfaces, panels, horizontal segments, vertical segments and finally the edges.

4. Floors – Leave it last, after the paint on all the other sections have dried thoroughly.
